Connecticut Huskies women's basketball head coach Geno Auriemma was "resting comfortably" in a Connecticut hospital after coming down with an illness on April 16 on an airplane at Bradley International Airport, per the Associated Press (via ESPN.com).

However, he's since been released from the hospital, according to a statement from the university on Thursday, per CNN's Jill Martin:

Auriemma boarded the plane the morning of April 16 but soon exited the aircraft after feeling ill. He was hospitalized thereafter. He led UConn to its 11th national title on April 5 and saw three of his players—Breanna Stewart, Moriah Jefferson and Morgan Tuck—go first, second and third, respectively, in Thursday's WNBA draft.

UConn released a statement saying he "had been ill for the last several days and was brought to the hospital for observation," per Dan Madigan of the Daily Campus:

The Associated Press also noted that Auriemma missed UConn's national championship parade and did not join the Huskies when officials honored them at the state capitol, though he was on hand at the WNBA draft to support his UConn trio, per Dom Amore of the Hartford Courant.

The Huskies secured their fourth straight national championship with an 82-51 win over the Syracuse Orange. Auriemma has won 955 games in 31 years at UConn.
