Lamar Odom Comments on Desire to Return to NBA
It's been a difficult six months for Lamar Odom, but the former NBA champion is not giving up hope on returning to the league.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight's Kevin Frazier at the Los Angeles Lakers' regular-season finale Wednesday, Odom expressed his desire to "get back on the court."
The 36-year-old Odom last appeared in a game for the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2012-13 season. He played for the Spanish League's Laboral Kutxa Baskonia before signing with the New York Knicks late in the 2014 season, but he did not suit up for the Knicks.
In October, Odom was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel and "fighting for his life," per ESPN.com. He was able to recover from that incident, with one person telling Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times that Odom's recovery was going to be "a long road."
In 14 NBA seasons, Odom won two NBA titles with the Los Angeles Lakers and was named Sixth Man of the Year in 2011. He averaged 13.3 points and 8.4 rebounds per game as a member of the Lakers, Clippers, Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks.
However, given the amount of time since Odom last played and his health problems away from the court, his road back to the NBA will not be easy.
