Doug McDermott Intentionally Fouls Hassan Whiteside, Tackles Him to the Ground

Chicago Bulls forward Doug McDermott has one rule and one rule only: No easy buckets.

During the third quarter of Thursday’s contest against the Miami Heat at AmericanAirlines Arena, Defensive Player of the Year candidate Hassan Whiteside got the ball down low. Instead of surrendering a layup, McDermott wrapped up the big fella.

And tackled him.

Whiteside shoots just 64.1 percent from the stripe, so this was the smart play by McDermott. He just took it too far and was rightfully given a flagrant-1 foul:
