Leonsis Comments on Wall's Recovery

Wizards owner Ted Leonsis said Wall is expected to be ready for camp and is currently ahead of schedule in his recovery, per Todd Dybas of the Washington Times.

Wall Undergoes Surgery on Bothersome Knees

Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post reported Wall, 25, underwent the operations in Cleveland on Thursday morning and confirmed the team is planning on having him available to start next season. Castillo noted that Wall probably won't participate in Team USA's Olympic camp and could miss the start of Wizards training camp as well.

Wizards Today noted that the procedure on Wall's left knee was to "excise calcific deposits in his left patella tendon in order to eliminate pain and assist healing," while the point guard "underwent an arthroscopic lavage on his right knee in order to remove loose bodies."

Wall Comments on Knee Surgeries

Thursday, May 5

Wizards Today provided a statement from the guard about his outlook:

"

I am determined to lead this team back to the playoffs and getting healthy is the best way for me to accomplish that. I can promise the fans, my teammates and the organization that I will be focused on that goal throughout the summer and it will drive me to do everything I can to be ready for next season.

"

Wall's Health Vital for Wizards' Efforts to Return to Playoffs

Wall did not miss a game in 2015-16 (his sixth season) until April 6. His long-standing issues with his knee finally caused him to sit out, which left Ramon Sessions to handle the point guard duties.

The Wizards were one of the NBA's most disappointing teams, going 41-41 and missing the postseason after two straight playoff appearances. Their move back into the lottery could not have come at a worse possible time, as Wall and Co. are reportedly going to make a big push to sign Kevin Durant this summer, per CBS Sports' Matt Moore.

Getting the procedures done now should ensure Wall is finally all the way back to full strength and isn't forced to deal with any lingering issues.

Although the Olympics appear out of the picture for Wall now, the most important thing is making sure he's healthy as the Wizards look for a bounce-back campaign after what could be a busy summer.
