One game separated the Atlanta Hawks from their perch in third place to sixth place in the Eastern Conference ahead of Saturday's game against the Houston Rockets at Philips Arena.

Houston star guard James Harden entered as the NBA's second-leading scorer at 28.6 points per contest. Per NBA.com/Stats, the Hawks boasted the second-ranked team in the Association in defensive rating at 98.7, so something had to give.

Atlanta won by a score of 109-97 and locked down the Rockets in the fourth quarter, limiting the visitors to 14 points in the last 12 minutes. Al Horford and Tim Hardaway Jr. led the Hawks with 22 and 20 points, respectively.
