Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Los Angeles Clippers: Live Score, Highlights, Reaction
Times are rough in Oklahoma City.
Four days after a heartbreaking home loss to the Golden State Warriors, the Thunder blew a 22-point lead in a 103-98 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center on Wednesday night.
The Thunder jumped out of the gates quickly in this one, taking a 37-24 lead after one quarter of play. Oklahoma City then started the second period on a 7-0 run, building a 20-point lead.
The Thunder led by as many as 22 points and took a 17-point edge into the fourth quarter.
Then, it was deja vu all over again.
The Clippers outscored OKC 35-13 in the final frame, closing on a 26-5 run.
DeAndre Jordan was huge down the stretch, converting a couple of three-point plays to put Los Angeles in front.
Sloppy play from Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook cost Oklahoma City dearly, as the pair of All-Stars committed silly turnovers and took very poor shots down the stretch.
Down three with 12.6 seconds remaining, the Thunder had a chance to tie, but Westbrook raced up the floor and launched an off-balance three-pointer with 6.9 seconds left.
The ball went out of bounds to the Clippers, leading to two J.J. Redick free throws to ice the game for Los Angeles.
Chris Paul led the Clippers with 21 points and 13 assists, and Jordan contributed 20 points and 18 rebounds.
Durant led the Thunder with 30 points and 11 boards and Westbrook chipped in 24 points and 12 dimes, but their miscues late in the game are what everyone will take away from this.
Next up for the Clippers is a home meeting with the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Thunder will head over to Oracle Arena for another battle with the Warriors on Friday night.
