UCLA Bruins vs. Arizona Wildcats: Game Thread and Reaction

Matt JenningsFeb 12, 2016

Arizona fought back from an 11-point deficit in the second half to beat UCLA on Friday night 81-75.

The Wildcats (20-5, 8-4) were led by freshman Allonzo Trier, who had 18 points while going 9-of-10 from the foul line. Ryan Anderson had a poor shooting night, scoring just four points in the first half. He finished with a double-double though, scoring 11 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.

The Bruins (13-11, 4-7 Pac-12) are now 2-5 in their last seven games. If they had been able to sweep the Wildcats, that would have helped their case to the selection committee. Now they face an uphill climb to make the tournament.

UCLA led for most of the game. When center Thomas Welsh and forward Tony Parker fouled out late in the game, however, Arizona's Kaleb Tarczewski was able to take control.

Tarczewski was able to throw down alley-oops and grab rebounds with ease with those two gone.

Arizona head coach Sean Miller and the Wildcat fans were upset with the tight officiating for much of the game. The Wildcats benefitted from some calls, however, shooting 45 free throws on the night, almost three times as many as the Bruins (16).
