The Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police responded to the news, criticizing the decision not to charge McCoy, via Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer:
In February, NBC10 in Philadelphia reported charges were expected to be filed against McCoy after the four-time Pro Bowler, former San Diego Chargers running back Curtis Brinkley, Christopher Henderson and former University of Pittsburgh wide receiver Tamarcus Porter allegedly engaged in an altercation with off-duty police officers over a bottle of champagne.
CSNPhilly.com's John Gonzalez reported the off-duty officers involved in the dispute were Darnell Jessie, Roland Butler and Sgt. Daniel Ayers.
NBC10 relayed confirmation from Philadelphia police that one of the officers suffered broken ribs and a broken nose, while another officer "suffered more serious injuries," including broken ribs and a possible skull fracture.
On Feb. 9, TMZ Sports posted footage that appeared to show McCoy was involved in the altercation.
According to Chris Brown of the Bills' official website, the team released a statement Feb. 8 that said, "We are aware of the reports regarding [McCoy] and in the process of gathering more information."
