Joe TanseyFeb 8, 2016

Duke 72, No. 13 Louisville 65

The Duke Blue Devils boosted their NCAA men's basketball tournament stock Monday night with a win over the No. 13 Louisville Cardinals in the 1,000th game at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Duke went into the half with an 11-point lead thanks to the shooting of Grayson Allen, who contributed 16 of his 19 points in the first 20 minutes.

Louisville responded with an 11-0 run in the second half that produced its first lead since 2-0, but the Cardinals were unable to get key baskets from star guards Trey Lewis and Damion Lee.

Quentin Snider, the one Louisville guard who got Rick Pitino's team a few clutch field goals down the stretch, fouled out with 2:01 remaining.

The Blue Devils closed the game at the line in the final two minutes through Brandon Ingram and Matt Jones. The win was a nice start to a brutal four-game stretch Duke is embarking on. The Blue Devils face the Virginia Cavaliers, North Carolina Tar Heels and Louisville again in their next three games.

Despite going cold in the second half, Allen led Duke with 19 points, while Ingram added 18 for the hosts. Donovan Mitchell led the Cardinals with 17 points. Three other Louisville players—Snider, Lewis and Lee—found their way into double figures.
