Bryn Forbes led all scorers with 29 points as No. 10 Michigan State rolled through Michigan for an 89-73 road victory on Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor.

The game, which was the only regular-season meeting between the two bitter in-state rivals this season, wasn't nearly as close as the final score would indicate. The Spartans led by 30 points with just under three minutes to play when the Wolverines closed on a 14-2 run with Tom Izzo's starters on the bench.

The Spartans (20-4, 7-4 Big Ten) never trailed and had the game in hand the whole way.

They lit it up from three in the first half and then pounded away in the paint against an overmatched Michigan (17-7, 7-4 Big Ten) team that was missing its best player, Caris LaVert, for a 10th straight contest.

Forbes connected on 8-of-10 from behind the arc, but he wasn't the only Michigan State senior to make an impact.

Denzel Valentine also added 21 points to go alone with nine boards and eight assists, and Matt Costello chipped in 14 points along with eight rebounds.

Zak Irvin led the Wolverines with 19 points in the losing effort.
