The Golden State Warriors and San Antonio Spurs came into Monday's potential Western Conference Finals preview as historic competitors.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, the 40-4 Warriors and 38-6 Spurs boasted the best combined record (78-10) in NBA history for two teams playing each other 40 or more games into a season.

They will see plenty of each other over the rest of the season with the No. 1 seed on the line, because Monday was the first of four matchups between the two teams in 2015-16.
