Thunder's Westbrook Goes Scoreless for 2nd Time in Career

Bleacher Report MilestonesJan 14, 2016

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Russell Westbrook failed to score a point for just the second time in his career during Wednesday's 108-89 win over the Dallas Mavericks, largely due to his ejection in the second quarter for a pair of technical fouls, per ESPN Stats & Info.

In typical Westbrook fashion, he still managed to produce a decent stat line, finishing with eight assists, seven rebounds, two steals and just one turnover in 15 minutes, with all of the secondary stats making up for his failure to convert any of his three field-goal attempts.

Westbrook's previous scoreless performance came all the way back on March 21, 2010, when he had five assists, one rebound and two turnovers in just 17 minutes in a 121-101 loss to the Indiana Pacers during his second NBA season.

Still ascending to stardom at the time, Westbrook actually wasn't ejected from that contest, but rather he was benched in favor of a red-hot Eric Maynor for a sizable portion of the game.

Now long past the point in his career at which he might be benched on an off night, the 27-year-old superstar is enjoying arguably his finest season, boasting either his best or second-best marks in field-goal percentage (45.6), points per game (24.8), rebounds per game (7.0), assists per game (9.5) and steals per game (2.5).

The only downside is that he ranks fourth in the league with 4.3 turnovers, but it's a trade-off that the 28-12 Thunder are more than happy to make.
