The Los Angeles Clippers put their eight-game winning streak on the line when they took on the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday night.

As a result of their winter surge, the Clippers had a three-game lead on the Dallas Mavericks for the fourth seed in the Western Conference entering this contest.

The Pelicans, on the other hand, might already be out of playoff contention. They entered Sunday with an 11-24 record on the season, the second-worst in the conference.

A 5.5-game deficit on the eighth-seeded Utah Jazz isn't insurmountable, but New Orleans will need to turn its fortunes around quickly.

That didn't start on Sunday after the Pelicans fell 114-111 in overtime to the Clippers.
