Thursday Recap
Federer was given a typically rapturous welcome onto the Pat Rafter Arena for his first match of the tournament after being handed a bye through the first round, per Brisbane International:
The Swiss legend wasted no time in asserting his dominance, claiming two early breaks to race into a 5-1 lead.
Kamke managed to hold serve for 5-2, but Federer was in purring form and saw out the first set inside half an hour.
The second set was almost an exact replica as Kamke got his first service game on the board only for the 34-year-old to reel off five games in a row.
However, the German was unable to make Federer serve again this time, as the Swiss claimed a third break of the set and an easy victory.
Federer will now face Grigor Dimitrov in the quarter-finals, the Bulgarian having come back from a set down in his second-round tie to beat Viktor Troicki in a three-set clash lasting almost three hours.
There was no such luck for Goffin. After losing the first-set tiebreak the Belgian was able to force a decider against Pouille, but a clinical performance in the third from the Frenchman saw him advance to the last eight.
He will have to beat another seed in Raonic if he is to make the semi-finals after the Canadian saw off Dodig.

Theirs was another encounter to go the distance, but after losing the first set tiebreak to the Croatian, Raonic claimed the next two with ease.
Crawford's victory over Germany's Andrea Petkovic was the most remarkable win of the day in the women's draw.
The 20-year-old American pummelled the world No. 24, dropping only three games in the entire match, to prove that she is one to watch for the upcoming season, per the New York Times' Ben Rothenberg:
Azarenka's victory over eighth seed Vinci was also very clinical, with the Belarusian taking under 80 minutes to win her quarter-final 6-1, 6-2.
Per tennis writer Chris Goldsmith, Azarenka has quite an incentive to go all the way in Brisbane:
Elsewhere, Kerber claimed a routine straight-sets victory over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, while Suarez Navarro fought back impressively from a set down to beat America's Varvara Lepchenko.
Friday will see the women's final lineup decided as the last-four clashes are played out in Brisbane, while the highlight for the men's quarter-finals is surely Australia's Bernard Tomic against No. 2 seed Kei Nishikori.
