Having dropped their last eight games, the Phoenix Suns tried to break the skid against a Los Angeles Lakers team playing without Kobe Bryant.

Bryant sat out as he continues to deal with lingering pain in his shoulder, which was injured last season. The Lakers entered the night on a two-game winning streak and were playing better basketball of late, with Bryant taking a smarter approach.

The Suns were in the midst of a nosedive that cost multiple assistants their jobs and may wind up leading to Jeff Hornacek's ouster.

The Lakers went on to register the blowout win, 97-77.
