The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 93-84 on Friday night.

The 76ers and Lakers had been showing signs of life leading up to their New Year's Day matchup in Hollywood.

The 76ers won two of their last three games on a Western Conference road trip heading into the game, marking their best stretch since a brief two-game winning streak last March. 

The Lakers entered Friday coming off a victory over the Boston Celtics. In each of their last four wins, they put up at least 108 points.
