Monday, Jan. 11
Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports noted that Xavier head coach Chris Mack revealed that "Sumner still has no timetable for a return."
Latest on Sumner's Recovery
Friday, Jan. 1
Rothstein reported Sumner did not take part in practice Friday and is listed as day-to-day.
According to a spokesperson for the Wildcats on Thursday, Sumner was able to squeeze the hands of his teammates as he was carried off the court and is being treated at a local hospital, per ESPN's Jeff Goodman. The spokesman also said Sumner is undergoing a CAT scan and is walking, according to Rothstein.
NBC Sports' Rob Dauster shared a short clip of Sumner's fall:
Sumner Crucial to Xavier's Hopes
The freshman guard was a highly touted member of the 2015 recruiting class. According to 247Sports' composite rankings, he was the No. 23 high school point guard and No. 107 player overall.
Since joining the Musketeers, Sumner has hit the ground running. Prior to injury, he was the team's second-leading scorer (11.7 PPG) and was first in assists (3.3 APG). He's a big reason for Xavier's 12-0 start to the 2015-16 season.
He'll be a big loss for the team as it navigates through the conference, but that is secondary to Sumner's health.
