NFL Player Injuries Hit Jersey Sales, but Less Than You Would Think

Matt KingDec 22, 2015

It seems like everyone has been injured this year in the NFL. But for star players, getting knocked off the field doesn't necessarily mean your popularity will plummet.

According to data from DicksSportingGoods.com, when a player got hurt, almost every time their jersey sales would drop, but only a few saw huge dips and a couple even went up in popularity.

Obviously, Rob Gronkowski can do no wrong. His injury only kept him out for one game and, even then, his jersey actually went up. And although Victor Cruz finally gave up on coming back this season, Giants fans are still getting ready for next season by snatching up his jersey.

Big drops for Marshawn Lynch and Jimmy Graham, but that's what will happen when you can just cop a Russell Wilson jersey instead. And Jordy Nelson saw the biggest loss in popularity, but that will happen when you get hurt before the season even starts.

What do you think? Does it make sense to get a jersey of an injured player?
