Warriors Players Comment on Bucks' Celebration After Streak-Ending Loss
The Milwaukee Bucks were boisterous when they handed the Golden State Warriors their first loss of the season last week, which has the defending champs out for revenge ahead of Friday's rematch.
According to ESPN.com's Ethan Sherwood Strauss, Stephen Curry was among the Dubs players who were miffed at the manner in which the Bucks acted during and after their unexpected 108-95 win.
"Oh, it was a nice celebration. We do remember that stuff," Curry said. "We were kind of laughing at some of the stuff going on. It was a big game for them. Friday will be a big game for us."
Draymond Green was especially bothered by guard Michael Carter-Williams' taunting in the closing seconds as he stared down the Warriors' bench following a dunk, as seen in this video:
"Michael Carter-Williams getting a dunk at the end of the game and looking at our bench like, 'Dude you lost your spot,'" Green said on KNBR radio (via Sherwood Strauss). "So, it's not quite common that you should be looking toward someone's bench yelling. You've got some ground to make up."
Warriors guard Klay Thompson wasn't a fan of the move either, and it seemingly has him extra motivated to beat the Bucks on Friday:
"There's nothing wrong with the dunk, but the stare-down, trying to talk nasty in the game like that. And it's like, 'All right, you're going to see us next Friday and in our building, too.' ... We're looking forward to it, man. Obviously a team that gave us our one in the loss column, and we felt they could have won with a little more class.
"
Golden State bounced back from that loss to beat the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday and move to 25-1 on the season, while the Bucks were upset by the Western Conference-worst Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday.
Because of that, NBA.com's John Schuhmann believes Milwaukee just happened to catch the Dubs—who were playing the last game of a seven-game, 13-day road trip—at the right time:
The Warriors enter the rematch with a day of rest under their belts, and it will take place at Oracle Arena. The raucous Warriors fans figure to give Bucks a piece of their collective mind.
Golden State is an incredibly difficult team to beat under any circumstances, but the Bucks may have dug themselves an even deeper hole due to their overzealous celebration.
