Harbaugh Comments on Gillmore's Availability
Wednesday, Dec. 16
According to Clifton Brown of CSN Mid-Atlantic, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh does not expect Gillmore to be healthy enough to play against the Chiefs on Sunday.
Per Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun, Harbaugh added there is a strong possibility Gillmore could be out for the remainder of the season as well.
Gillmore a Solid Contributor for Ravens
The second-year tight end out of Colorado State has enjoyed a solid 2015 campaign as Baltimore's primary tight end with 33 receptions for 412 yards and four touchdowns, all of which are career highs.
That hasn't translated to wins, though, as the Ravens are just 4-9 due largely to the number of significant injuries they have been forced to overcome.
That includes quarterback Joe Flacco, who has since been replaced by Matt Schaub and Jimmy Clausen. Baltimore also signed signal-caller Ryan Mallett, who could potentially see some playing time by the end of the season.
With Gillmore likely out Sunday and possibly for the rest of the year, look for second-round rookie Maxx Williams to receive most of the playing time at tight end.
Williams has been limited by injuries at times as well, but he has registered 19 catches for 168 yards and one touchdown.
Baltimore drafted Williams to be the successor to Owen Daniels, and it looks as though the Minnesota product will get a chance to show he is ready to be a big part of the offense.
