Kobe Bryant Signs the Cast He Put on Jonas Valanciunas' Arm
He didn't literally put the cast on Jonas Valanciunas' arm, but Kobe Bryant is the reason the Toronto Raptors center's hand is currently sweating under gross layers of gauze and plastic.
The injury occurred in November, when Bryant swatted at a Valanciunas layup on the baseline.
The swipe grazed Valanciunas' left hand, catching the tips of the center's fingers and fracturing his fourth metacarpal.
This fracture has kept the 23-year-old Lithuanian sidelined for the Raptors' last eight games, including Monday night's 102-93 win over the Lakers in Toronto—a game he really wanted to play in because of Kobe, but couldn't play in because of Kobe.
But at least he got an autograph!
That's a nice thing to do.
When you break a man's extremity—particularly one his livelihood kind of, you know, hinges upon—the least you can do is sign his cast.
This is also probably one of the more unique pieces of Bryant memorabilia out there. You usually don't get Kobe's autograph and an admittance of wrongdoing in one swoop.
Dan is on Twitter. He got cast as Robin Hood in his middle school play and then broke his arm, so he had to do all the choreographed sword fights in an elbow cast. True story.
