Big Ten/ACC Challenge 2015 Schedule: TV Info, Live Stream and Monday Predictions

Mike ChiariNov 30, 2015

The Big Ten and ACC are two of the most dominant conferences in college basketball, and supremacy will be determined over the next three days, as they will clash as part of the 2015 Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

A total of 14 games pitting Big Ten and ACC teams against each other will take place Monday through Wednesday, and the Big Ten will look to keep its recent roll going. Although the ACC won the challenge every year from 1999 through 2008, the Big Ten is 4-0-2 over the past six seasons, including an 8-6 win last year.

College basketball fans can catch all of the action on the ESPN family of networks, and each game can be viewed via live stream on ESPN3.

Monday Predictions

Rutgers vs. Wake Forest

The 2015 Big Ten/ACC Challenge will open with an extremely intriguing matchup, as Wake Forest will travel to Rutgers to take on the Scarlet Knights.

Both teams have had their ups and downs this season, as the Demon Deacons are 4-2, while Rutgers sits at 3-3. Wake Forest has been especially tough to peg, though, as evidenced by this tweet, courtesy of Garrett Stepien of the Daily Targum:

The Demon Deacons looked great in wins over a ranked Indiana squad and UCLA, but a disappointing loss to Vanderbilt was sandwiched in between.

While falling to Vandy at the Maui Invitational wasn't ideal, senior center Devin Thomas believes Wake Forest is much better off now than it was entering the tourney, according to Dan Collins of the Winston-Salem Journal:

"

It feels pretty good to go 2-1 in such a great tournament like this. We would have loved to go 3-0, but we laid an egg (Tuesday) against a very good Vanderbilt team. ... But this just shows the resilience of our team, to bounce back from that game (Tuesday) and coming back with a good win (Wednesday).

"

Thomas has been the driving force behind Wake Forest's solid start to the season, as he leads the team with 17.7 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. Six Demon Deacons players are averaging at least 9.5 points per game, as head coach Danny Manning has relied heavily upon his talented starting lineup.

Rutgers is similar in that regard, with junior forward Deshawn Freeman leading the way to the tune of 14.5 points per contest.

The Scarlet Knights enter Monday's game having lost two in a row, including one to another ACC team in Clemson.

Rutgers is undefeated at home, which could level the playing field a bit, but with Thomas playing as good as essentially any big man in the country currently, the Demon Deacons will have too much firepower to overcome.

Minnesota vs. Clemson

Minnesota and Clemson have gotten off to similar starts this season, as both have beaten lower-level competition while struggling against stronger teams.

The Golden Gophers are 4-2, with their losses coming at the hands of Temple and Texas Tech, while the 4-1 Tigers' only defeat came at the hands of Massachusetts.

Both teams are coming off seasons in which they barely cracked the .500 mark as well, so they are hungry to become contenders within their respective conferences and to qualify for the NCAA tournament.

Minnesota and Clemson don't get many breaks during conference play, as they are forced to go up against juggernauts on a regular basis, but Tigers head coach Brad Brownell views that as a positive, according to Steve Carp of the Las Vegas Review-Journal:

"

We're doing our best. We've had a couple of good years but we'd like to be a little more consistent. It is an unbelievable challenge to play against some of the best teams and some of the best coaches in the country. Night in and night out, you're going to play great teams. It's really competitive. It forces you to be at your best. But at this level, you challenge yourself as a coach and you recruit kids who want to do the same.

"

Clemson likely has the most impressive win between the two teams this season, as it is coming off a 76-58 drubbing of Rutgers. Minnesota recently beat Omaha, but that was on the heels of a fairly big loss to Texas Tech.

Neither team has proved to be particularly explosive offensively this season, as the Golden Gophers have just three players averaging double digits in scoring, while the Tigers have only two.

Clemson junior forward Jaron Blossomgame may be the best overall player between the teams, as he is averaging over 18 points and nearly seven rebounds per game.

Based on the Tigers' win over Rutgers coupled with Blossomgame's form, look for the ACC side to come through with a big road win.
