Magic Johnson Isn't Bullish on Lakers' Chances to Stop Warriors' Winning Streak

Dan CarsonNov 24, 2015

The Golden State Warriors are looking to extend their season-opening win streak to 16-0 and make their mark on NBA history Tuesday night.

But first, they have to beat the 2-11 Los Angeles Lakers—a feat Magic Johnson is entirely certain they will accomplish.

The former Lakers champion tweeted out his regrets to fans ahead of tonight's loss to Golden State. He knows it hasn't happened yet. But he's confident it will.

Pre-emptive grief is an interesting way to assuage the masses. Sure, it seems a little overly certain of defeat, but you can't say the man's not a realist.

As for another principal in this matter, Kobe Bryant isn't looking at the game in terms of certain futility. He said a Lakers win over the Warriors isn't unthinkable, via ESPN's Baxter Holmes.

"I've seen stranger things happen," Bryant said. "We've been playing like s--t. We might go up there, and we might play like gangbusters up there. You never know."

In any case, the Lakers' loss or miracle win starts at 10:30 p.m. ET. I'm sure Magic can't wait for it to be over.
