Humphries' injury not believed to be serious

Friday, Nov. 20

Rob Bromley of WKY-TV reported Humphries was wearing a boot and is considered day to day. The injury to the 7-foot freshman isn’t considered cause for concern, per Jerry Tipton of the Lexington Herald-Leader:

Humphries has averaged 8.3 minutes, 2.7 rebounds and 3.7 points per contest while shooting 37.5 percent in his first three games.

He was charged in defending Duke big man Marshall Plumlee in the Wildcats’ 74-63 win over the No. 5 Blue Devils on Tuesday, playing in 12 minutes behind starter Skal Labissiere. Humphries told Kyle Tucker of the Louisville Courier Journal he was pleasantly surprised to hit the court at all in such a high-stakes game:

"

I was expecting to not even hit the court at all. I was expecting to just be a team player that game and just (cheering) from the bench. But when he came up to me and said I’m in, I thought, ‘Really? Me? I’m going in right now?’ I was determined to just make sure that he was happy with putting me in. I just wanted to play hard and prove to him that I could do it.”

"

Recruited from Australia, Humphries is just 17, meaning he’ll be in Lexington at least two seasons due to the NBA’s age limit.

The Wildcats play again Tuesday vs. Boston University then Saturday at South Florida, enough separation where Humphries could make a timely return if his foot is indeed not of major concern.
