Duncan Becomes Oldest Player with 5 Assists and 5 Blocks

Bleacher Report MilestonesNov 19, 2015

San Antonio Spurs forward Tim Duncan recorded six assists and six blocks in Wednesday's 109-98 win over the Denver Nuggets, making him the oldest player in NBA history to have five or more assists and five or more blocks in the same regular-season game, per Elias Sports Bureau (via ESPN.com).

Duncan accomplished the feat at the age of 39 years and 207 days, breaking the record previously set by Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38 years, 273 days) on Jan. 14, 1986.

With the Spurs entering Wednesday's game as a heavy favorite, Duncan didn't seem likely to set any records, as there was a good chance his minutes would be limited.

However, Nuggets rookie center Nikola Jokic had other plans, with his 23 points and 12 rebounds keeping Denver in the game, which allowed Duncan to log 28 minutes.

Averaging 27.2 minutes per game for the season, the future Hall of Famer has fallen shy of 25 minutes on three separate occasions, with each of those coming in an easy Spurs win.

Of course, Duncan is still a highly effective player with the minutes he gets, as he is now averaging 11.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 blocks and 0.5 steals per game.

He also picked up his third double-double in 11 tries during Wednesday's game, finishing with 12 points and 11 rebounds in addition to the six assists and six blocks.
