Week 11 NFL Picks: Mid-Week Vegas Odds, Lines, Prop Bets and Predictions

Steve SilvermanNov 18, 2015

The Philadelphia Eagles just can't seem to get out of their own way. With the season past the halfway point, the Eagles still have a losing record.

Nearly everyone expected them to run out to a big lead in the NFC East, especially after Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo went down with a broken collarbone early in the season.

The New York Giants were simply too inconsistent, and the Washington Redskins appeared to be a mess, and neither team appeared to be a match for Philadelphia.

The Giants have played to their expectations and are just a 5-5 team. That's good enough to give them a half-game lead over the 4-5 Eagles and Redskins.

Chip Kelly's fast-paced offense has not been able to wreak havoc this season. Sam Bradford, Kelly's hand-picked leader for the offense, never looked comfortable under center. After suffering a concussion and a separated left shoulder, Bradford is likely to miss two games, according to Sports Illustrated.

That means Mark Sanchez will take over at quarterback, and his shaky history means the Eagles may have a difficult time holding on to the football. Sanchez threw 11 interceptions last year, and he threw one Sunday after taking over for Bradford.

Despite their uneven play and the injury to Bradford, the Eagles are seven-point favorites over the Tampa Bay Bucs, according to Odds Shark.

The Bucs have been improving after a slow start, and they have the same 4-5 record as the Eagles. Rookie quarterback Jameis Winston went four straight games without throwing an interception, and when that streak came to an end against Dallas in Week 10, he still led the Bucs to the victory with a late touchdown drive.

Yes, Philadelphia is desperate to come up with the win, and it just might do it on its home field. But this is a game that will come down to a field goal in the late going. The Eagles are not about to cover a seven-point spread.

Lions, Raiders ready to light up the scoreboard

The Oakland Raiders should not have much of a problem moving the ball up and down the field against the Detroit Lions when the two teams meet at Ford Field on Sunday.

The Raiders have a multifaceted offense led by quarterback Derek Carr and his stellar wide receivers Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree.

Cooper has shown the ability to go downfield and stretch the defense, while Crabtree has been able to hold on to nearly everything thrown his way. So far this season, Carr has a remarkable 21-to-6 touchdown-to-interception ratio, while Cooper and Crabtree have caught nine of his TD passes.

The Raiders also have a productive running game led by Latavius Murray, who has gained 678 yards and is averaging 4.7 yards per carry.

The Raiders' balance has made them quite dangerous, and it has given them the eighth-ranked offense in the league. They should be able to take advantage of the Lions' 25th-ranked defense.

The Lions are feeling a bit better about themselves following their Week 10 win at Green Bay, and they also have solid offensive weapons in quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receivers Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate.

Since they are coming home after that big road win, look for the Lions to get off to a good start here and find the end zone three or four times.

While we don't expect them to win, we expect the Raiders and Lions to exceed the 48-point total. Look for these two teams to cruise pass the posted total late in the third quarter.

Injured Pats continue to pour it on

There is something different about this year's New England Patriots.

They were on the ropes in Week 10 and had just taken a standing eight count when Tom Brady came to the line on a 4th-and-10 play in the final moments against the Giants. New England trailed by two points, and if Brady didn't convert, the Giants would have had a season-defining victory.

But Brady did convert, and the Pats went down the field and set themselves up for a game-winning field-goal attempt. When Stephen Gostkowski converted the 54-yarder, the undefeated Patriots had their ninth consecutive victory.

After surviving that test, the Patriots come home to face the Buffalo Bills, a team they defeated convincingly on the road in Week 2. However, the Patriots will not be at full strength as a result of key injuries to running back Dion Lewis and wideout Julian Edelman.

The loss of those two players means Brady won't have two of his most effective players.

But the Patriots are a resourceful group, and they still have Rob Gronkowski, LeGarrette Blount, Brandon LaFell and Danny Amendola.

The Bills have Rex Ryan at the helm, and while he was thrilled to come away with a road victory over the Jets in Week 10, the Patriots are not the Jets. Ryan has to confront Bill Belichick once again, and this is not a matchup that has gone well for him lately.

Including this year's 40-32 loss, Ryan's teams have lost nine of their last 10 regular-season games to New England. That's not going to change here, and the Patriots will cover the 7.5-point spread.

Even with the injuries, the Patriots have too many weapons and too much Belichick for Ryan.
