Playing in the Lauren Hill Tipoff Classic, Mount St. Joseph University and Hiram College took a moment to salute the late player during the game Saturday.
In the middle of a play, the basketball was put on the ground and players from both teams huddled and held up an "L" in honor of Lauren Hill.
Hill died in April at the age of 19 from diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), a rare brain cancer.
Hill was diagnosed in November 2013, but even after that, she set out to play in a college basketball game, something she was supposed to do before she found out she had cancer. With that goal, she wound up making a difference beyond the basketball court.
The entire country rallied around Hill, raising money and cancer awareness.
And yes, she was able to fulfill her dream of playing in a college basketball game.
In November 2014, Hill suited up and played in a game for Mount St. Joseph against Hiram College. Not only that, but she scored in the game, which had been moved to Xavier University's Cintas Center after an overwhelming show of support.
This year, the two teams returned to the arena to play in the Lauren Hill Tipoff Classic. Although Hill was not in a Mount St. Joseph uniform this time around, she was certainly not forgotten.
