Henderson Out for 6-8 Weeks
Saturday, Nov. 14
According to ESPN's Jeff Goodman, Henderson suffered torn ligaments in his ankle that will sideline him for at least six weeks.
Playing in his first game at NC State after transferring from West Virginia at the end of the 2013-14 season, Henderson played just seven minutes with the Wolfpack and didn't register a point. In his lone season in the NCAA at West Virginia, he averaged 11.7 points per game.
It's bad enough that NC State is losing one of its starters after a loss to a mid-major school, but his absence is going to seriously affect the Wolfpack's depth.
Per the Star News' Brett Friedlander, NC State has only nine scholarship players on the roster and is short members who can put the ball on the floor.
Head coach Mark Gottfried spoke with Scout's Pack Pride on the team's options moving forward:
With those comments, it looks like freshman Shaun Kirk will see some playing time while Henderson recovers. Kirk did not play in the Wolfpack's opener, but at 6'8", he will look to add a bit of physicality to the wing play.
He'll have to be ready soon, as NC State faces South Alabama on Sunday. A quick turnaround could help the Wolfpack forget about the loss to William & Mary, but if things don't start clicking soon, they could be looking at a disastrous start to their 2015-16 season.
