Los Angeles Clippers vs. Dallas Mavericks: Live Score, Highlights and Analysis
Dirk Nowitzki scored 31 points, Wesley Matthews added 25 and the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Los Angeles Clippers, 118-108, at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday night.
This game marked the first time DeAndre Jordan played in Dallas since spurning the Mavericks in free agency during the offseason. Jordan reached a verbal agreement to play with Dallas, but changed his mind and went back to the Clippers.
Jordan was booed heavily throughout the contest and ended up with nine points, 11 rebounds and a minus-23 plus-minus.
The Mavericks had to climb out of an early hole to get this win.
The Clippers took an early 31-21 lead in the first quarter, but Dallas quickly rebounded. By halftime, the Mavs only trailed 54-53.
Dallas then proceeded to take a 14-point lead late in the third period, only to see Los Angeles rip off eight straight points to end the quarter.
The Clippers led 106-104 late, but the Mavericks closed the game on a 14-2 run to grab the victory.
Nowitzki was brilliant, shooting 11-of-14 and draining five three-pointers, including banking in a triple to put the Mavs up, 113-108, with just over a minute to go.
The Mavericks shot a blistering 55.6 percent from the floor and went 11-of-24 from long range.
Blake Griffin led the Clips with 21 points.
Chris Paul had a nightmarish outing shooting the basketball, going just 2-of-11.
Los Angeles was also forced to play the second half without J.J. Redick, who was dealing with back spasms.
Up next for the Clippers is a road matchup with the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night.
Meanwhile, the Mavericks will stay home to host the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday.
