Pistons' Drummond off to Historic Start Through 4 Games

Bleacher Report MilestonesNov 4, 2015

Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond has 81 points and 78 rebounds through the first four games of the 2015-16 season, making him the first player since Wilt Chamberlain and Dave Cowens in 1970 to record 75 or more points and 75 or more rebounds through his team's first four games of a campaign, per NBA.com/stats.

The 22-year-old big man has posted a double-double in every contest, with at least 18 points and 10 rebounds in each game.

He had his best outing yet in Tuesday's 94-82 loss to the Indiana Pacers, setting personal season-high marks for points (25), rebounds (29) and minutes (43). He largely took advantage of his teammates' inability to shoot the ball, with 11 of his 29 boards coming on the offensive end.

Drummond is nearly averaging a 20-20 for the season, sitting at 20.3 points and 19.5 rebounds per game along with 1.8 blocks, 1.8 steals, 0.8 assists and 2.3 turnovers.

Part of the explosion can be explained by the departure of current Milwaukee Bucks center Greg Monroe, who often played alongside Drummond the past three seasons.

Of course, the biggest factor has just been Drummond's ability to stay out of foul trouble, which has arguably been his most glaring weakness to this point in his career.

He's averaging 39 minutes per game this season, ranking second in the NBA to only Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo (40.3), who recently logged 51 minutes in a triple-overtime contest.
