New Jersey Devils vs. Philadelphia Flyers Live Blog: Analysis and Conversation
The New Jersey Devils simply outplayed the Philadelphia Flyers.
Behind the tandem of Travis Zajac (two powerplay goals) and Kyle Palmeri (a goal and two assists), the Devils cruised to a 4-1 victory over their Metropolitan division rivals.
It was the Devils fourth victory in five games, according to Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger and NJ.com

Zajac and Palmeri both had highlight-reel goals. Zajac scored on a backhand from the slot and Palmeri unleashed a wrister that went top shelf above Flyers' left-handed goalie Steve Mason's blocker (video from @NHL).

While the Devils only won by three, a super effort from Mason kept it close. The Devils opened up the first period with 14 shots on goal, but were unable to score.
However, they broke a 1-1 tie open in the third period, scoring three unanswered goals, including an empty netter at the end of the game.
The Flyers again looked slow at the start and came out flat, despite losing 4-3 in overtime to the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday. Slow starts will be the downfall of their chances when they face teams with higher offensive prowess. Mason can't be expected to make this many saves a night without any help offensively.
And, with these slow starts, the Flyers leave themselves exposed to penalties. If the two powerplay goals by the Devils mean anything, it's the Flyers' penalty kill can't handle being on the ice too often.
