Punter Steve Weatherford Cut by Jets After 1 Game, Made $51,000 with Team
Steve Weatherford's tenure with the New York Jets lasted a total of only four days, but he can say that his stint with the team was definitely worth his time.
That's because he made more than $51,000 for one "week" of work.
New York signed the punter on Saturday, just one day before the team took on the New England Patriots. Weatherford punted four times in the game, averaging 40.3 yards per punt.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Sunday's game would be the only one Weatherford would play in as a Jet (well, so far), as New York's regular punter, Ryan Quigley, appears to be healthy enough to play this week after missing Week 7 with a shin infection. On Wednesday, Weatherford was released by the Jets.
Despite getting cut, the punter can't be too upset about the fact that he got paid a little more than $50,000 for his time with the Jets. According to ESPN's Rich Cimini, Weatherford—a nine-year veteran—signed for the veteran minimum of $870,000. Divide that number by 17 for the total number of weeks in a season, and you get a prorated total of $51,176 for one game. In other words, Weatherford's fill-in job helped him make more in a couple of days than many fans make in a year. Not bad.
For that paycheck, hopefully the 32-year-old continues to stay in outstanding shape and is ready in the event another team comes calling at the last minute once again.
