Nike Air Jordan 8 'Three's the Charm' Release Date, Pics and Retail Price
There was once a time when Michael Jordan wasn’t the default answer when debating the best basketball player of all time. Then he proceeded to lead his Chicago Bulls to the first of two separate three-peats from the 1990-91 season to the 1992-93 campaign.
Nike Air Jordan is bringing back the shoes that helped his Airness win that third title in 1993.
According to Nike.com, the Nike Air Jordan 8 “Three’s the Charm” shoes are scheduled for a Saturday, Oct. 24 release date at 10 a.m. ET. The release will pay tribute to that first three-peat with “color cues” from the three teams Jordan defeated in the NBA Finals and will sell for $190.
Here is a look at a number of different angles from J23 iPhone App:
Former NBA All-Star Richard Hamilton, who played with Jordan on the Washington Wizards, shared a glance at the shoes atop the box on his Instagram page:
The Bulls defeated the Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns during that three-peat, and Patrick Johnson of SneakerNews.com noted the Air Jordan 8 “Three’s the Charm” shoes “utilizes the three accent colors of the defeated squads.”
Jordan wore the Air Jordan 8 shoes when he knocked off the Suns in 1993, and the orange and purple Phoenix had on its jerseys can be seen along with the purple and gold of the Lakers and the red of the Trail Blazers.
SneakerNews.com provided a look at another angle of the shoes:
The white leather serves as the dominant color of the shoe, which allows the array of colors from the victimized teams to truly stand out in contrast to the black and white design. What’s more, the tongue has the famous Jumpman logo on top of an image of the Larry O’Brien Trophy that is awarded to the NBA champions.
Nice Kicks highlighted the top of the shoe, which includes an image of the logo on top of the Larry O’Brien Trophy and a 23 above the laces representing the number Jordan wore during his dominant run with the Bulls:
Those looking to remember a critical span of Jordan’s career can pick up the new shoes Saturday.
