Under Armour Curry Two 'Iron Sharpens Iron' Release Date, Pics and Retail Price

Joseph ZuckerOct 21, 2015

Off the back of the Curry One's success, Under Armour is mere days away from the debut of the Curry Two, the signature shoe for the NBA's reigning MVP, Stephen Curry.

The first colorway in the line, called "Iron Sharpens Iron," will release Saturday and retail for $130, per Brendan Dunne of Sole Collector.

According to Under Armour's website, collectors can begin purchasing the shoe online at 10 a.m. ET. The Curry Two "Iron Sharpens Iron" will be available at major sneaker retailers as well.

Under Armour offered a good look at the shoe in this photo posted on Instagram in September:

In addition to the grey and black exterior, which echoes an iron-based theme, the "Iron Sharpens Iron" phrase is stitched into the tongue along with a pickax and two interlocking swords.

The shoe boasts a sharp design that is helped by the colorful midsole, which breathes life into the shoe.

As the first entry in Under Armour's Curry Two line, "Iron Sharpens Iron" sets the stage for what is to come.

The company is sparing no expense with regard to the Curry Two's ad campaign. Jamie Foxx is back after he helped to promote the Curry One last year:

In total, nine different colorways are set to be a part of the Curry Two line, and you can see the various release dates of each shoe below:

Simply by virtue of Curry's prodigious talents, the various colorways in the Curry Two line are likely to be highly sought after by collectors and casual fans alike.

The Golden State Warriors star is the greatest shooter of his generation and one of the best in NBA history. He helped the Warriors perform at an all-time great caliber in the regular season, and Golden State followed through with an NBA title, justifying the hype.

Of course, the player's reputation only goes so far when it comes to his signature shoe; the shoe itself has to live up to its name.

Curry Two designer Rashad Williams described in an interview with Tim Newcomb for SportsIllustrated.com some of the decision-making behind the shoe and how it improves upon the Curry One.

Williams explained how Curry wanted the new design to "fit better around his ankles and around his forefoot," so Under Armour went about accomplishing that goal:

"

Williams introduced the company’s Speedform construction—a seamless heel with no traditional sockliner pullout that creates flowing construction—to basketball for the first time. “The seamless heel, all the way on the bottom of the foot to the forefoot creates a nice tight compression form-fitting upper,” Williams says. The style also allows for a mixture of textiles and traditional synthetics for designers to play with fit, stability and design.

"

The company's website also draws attention to "Charged Cushioning" used for the Curry Two, which is designed to give those wearing the shoe an extra burst.

Unfortunately, Under Armour provides no guarantees you'll be able to shoot like Curry if you wear his shoe.

Despite that, the Curry Two is certain to be a hit with Warriors fans and sneaker collectors alike.
