Lance Stephenson Says the Hornets Didn't Treat Him Like a Star

Thomas DuffyOct 12, 2015

Poor Lance Stephenson.

The 25-year-old’s scoring and assist averages dropped from 13.8/4.6 in 2013-14 with Indy to 8.2/3.9 in Charlotte. His shooting percentage dipped from 49.1 percent to 37.6, while his accuracy from three-point land nosedived from 35.2 percent to—shield your eyes!—17.1.

Star numbers? Nope.

But according to Stephenson, now with the Los Angeles Clippers, he just didn’t fit the Buzz City mold.

“I think the way they wanted me to be a star isn’t the way my game is,” he told Woike.

With Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan wearing the same jerseys as him, Stephenson doesn't have to worry about anything regarding the word "star."
