Terry Bradshaw Speaks on Greg Hardy Ahead of DE's Season Debut vs. Patriots

Tyler ConwayOct 11, 2015

Add Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw to the growing chorus of prominent analysts who don't believe Greg Hardy should be making his season debut Sunday. In an impassioned speech during Sunday's Fox pregame show, Bradshaw said Hardy and all those convicted of domestic violence should not be allowed in the NFL.

Here is the full transcript of Bradshaw's quote, per Nick Schwartz of USA Today

"

Anybody, in my opinion, that lays a hand on a woman — I don’t care who you are my friend — you never come back in this league. But Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones in his desperation to get a pass rusher said "well you know what America, Cowboys fans, he’s alright. He’s a good boy. We’re going to get him all straightened out over here and bring him in." Which he did. He has his first news conference, he makes a fool of himself…. This is wrong. We have no place for this. I’m actually tired of talking about the Hardys of the world, and I really, really, seriously hope that eventually we never have a place in the NFL for people that touch a woman.

Hardy, 27, will be making his appearance of the season for the Cowboys during Sunday's game against the New England Patriots. The former All-Pro served a four-game suspension to begin 2015 for NFL conduct violations related to domestic violence allegations from 2014. While he appealed his conviction and  it was overturned, the incident has ultimately cost him 19 games of playing time, if you include his 15-game deactivation last season with the Carolina Panthers.

A controversial signing at the time, Hardy has shown a blase attitude toward the situation that has only further inflamed his critics. He outright refused to address the situation at a weekly press conference, instead strangely turning attention to Gisele Bundchen, the wife of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

“I love seeing Tom Brady, he’s cool as crap,” Hardy said, per David Moore of the Dallas Morning News. “Have you seen his wife? I hope she comes to the game. I hope her sister comes to the game, all her friends come to the game. One of my favorite games of the year, guys.”

That quote led to strong criticism from another Fox analyst, Katie Nolan, which contained some NSFW words about the NFL:

Anna Isaacson, the NFL's vice president of social responsibility, also publicly derided Hardy's comments.

"I couldn't disagree more with Greg Hardy's comments, and they do not reflect the values of the league," Isaacson told NFL.com's Ian Rapoport. "We are working hard to bring attention to the positive role models many other players represent and also to continue our education with all members of the NFL family."

Despite the public fervor, Hardy is expected to line up as part of the Cowboys' starting defense Sunday.
