NFL Power Rankings: Week 5 Super Bowl Odds, Standings and Playoff Projections
The Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots will square off in this year's Super Bowl.
At least, that's the prognosis coming from Las Vegas via those in charge of assigning Super Bowl odds to teams this early in the season.
The odds are a lot like power rankings. Not only do they have to weave four weeks of action into the narrative, they have to take into account divisional standings, injuries, upcoming schedules and projections.
In fact, rankings and odds serve as a good way for fans to keep up with the who's who of the NFL. Let's take a look at both and make a stab at predicting the playoff teams in the divisional standings table below.

Notable Lines to Consider
Pittsburgh Steelers (40-1)
The Pittsburgh Steelers may be sitting at .500 and without quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, but does anyone really want to count them out?
Exactly.
There's something about the Steelers. The team has taken care of business against mediocre opponents, but stumbled by seven points on the road against the New England Patriots and by three in overtime against the Baltimore Ravens.
Yet the divisional loss isn't too concerning. The team lost Big Ben the weekend before a Thursday contest, thrusting Michael Vick into the lineup on short notice.
With more preparation, it's hard to imagine Vick will flounder and sink the Steelers. He has Le'Veon Bell in the backfield, Antonio Brown to hit all over the field and a returning-from-suspension Martavis Bryant to hit deep.
Even if the Steelers tread water until Big Ben returns, the team will still be in the thick of things when it comes to the playoffs. The AFC North cannibalizes itself each year, and the Pittsburgh offense looked like the best unit this side of New England before the injury.
New York Giants (33-1)
At 2-2, the New York Giants sit in first place in the NFC East.
Meaning Tom Coughlin's team should still be very much on the minds of bettors.
"We're just getting started," Coughlin said, per NFL.com's Michael Silver. "Whatever happens, whatever people say, we just keep rolling. When people say we're down, we just keep swinging. That's what we do."
It's hard not to believe. The Giants started the season 0-2, but losses to NFC contenders such as the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons by a combined five points isn't anything to fret over.
In fact, the Giants have rattled off two in a row, the last an impressive, unexpected 24-10 win in Buffalo against the Bills where Eli Manning threw for three scores.
While division matchups can be difficult, the NFC East is much weaker than expected as the Cowboys trot along without Tony Romo and Dez Bryant and the Philadelphia Eagles rummage around as one of the league's bigger (and interesting) disappointments.
With a rather simplistic schedule until a Week 10 encounter with the New England Patriots, the Giants have a serious shot at pulling away in the NFC East, or at least putting themselves in postseason contention.
Carolina Panthers (33-1)

It's hard to count out a team led by the league's MVP.
Of course, the eventual honor remains up for debate, but who looks better than Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers right now? Newton has managed to elevate his team to 4-0 despite the fact Ted Ginn and Corey Brown are his starting wideouts and lead back Jonathan Stewart averages 3.7 yards per carry.
Even more impressive? Newton and Co. have two NFC South wins already. The Atlanta Falcons are a serious threat, of course, but the Panthers won't have to deal with them in a head-to-head encounter until Week 14.
In the time before the two showdowns in three weeks, Newton may have already assured the team a playoff spot at this pace. He already has 809 yards and seven scores through the air with another two touchdowns on the ground.
Newton's defense, which has seen its best player, linebacker Luke Kuechly, appear in just one game, has allowed a maximum of 23 points in a contest to date.
Considered dead in the water after a quiet offseason and an injury to wideout Kelvin Benjamin, the worst thing bettors could do now is ignore the Panthers.
