How Montgomery's Injury Impacts Bears Offensive Line
In his first season with Chicago, Montgomery went down on the opening drive and needed a cart to get back to the locker room. Left guard Matt Slauson moved over to center, and Patrick Omameh replaced Slauson at the guard spot, per Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times.
Injuries on the offensive line couldn't be happening at a worse time for Chicago, which needs to keep Jay Cutler's jersey as clean as possible. Cutler was in the lineup Sunday despite a lingering hamstring injury that kept him out Week 3. Even if Cutler is healthy enough to play, the Bears would prefer having their full line in place to avoid an aggravation.
The Bears also made the unfortunate decision to deactivate their primary backup center, Hroniss Grasu, which forced them to shuffle more than they would have.
Montgomery, 32, is in his 10th NFL season. He signed a one-year contract with the Bears this offseason.
