Latest on Green's Timeline for Return
Friday, Oct. 21
The Spurs announced on Oct. 21 that Green was diagnosed with a left quad strain and could miss up to three weeks.
He suffered the injury during an intrasquad scrimmage on Oct. 18, according to Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News.
Green Looking to Rebound from Disappointing 2015-16 Season
Green used a healthy and robust 2014-15 campaign to snag a four-year, $40 million contract from the Spurs two summers ago, but his effectiveness waned throughout the 2015-16 season.
In 79 games a year ago, Green averaged just 7.2 points and 3.8 rebounds per contest while compiling a career-worst 37.6 field-goal percentage. Green's three-point conversion rate of 33.2 percent was also the worst mark he's posted since his rookie season.
With that said, he's still a valuable floor-spacing element for a Spurs offense that needs all of its key players clicking if it wants to have any shot at dethroning the Golden State Warriors as the Western Conference champions.
