Sefolosha Trial Set for Oct. 5, Pero Antic Case Dropped
Wednesday, Sept. 9
Sefolosha and former Hawks teammate Pero Antic were arrested outside an NYC nightclub in April, and while Sefolosha will have to face the charges against him, Antic's case was dismissed, per Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Per Vivlamore, Sefolosha was charged with obstructing governmental administration, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Begley noted Sefolosha rejected an offer for a conditional dismissal, opting for the trial.
The 31-year-old native of Switzerland also broke his leg during the arrest, which caused him to miss the remainder of the 2014-15 campaign. He subsequently blamed the police for the injury.
According to Begley, Sefolosha still isn't sure where he stands from a health standpoint, but he isn't a fan of the Oct. 5 trial date since it will interfere with training camp.
With DeMarre Carroll out of the picture after signing with the Toronto Raptors, Sefolosha is expected to take on a bigger role with the Hawks this season.
If his injury and the court case against him end up compromising his ability to play for some or all of the season, though, Atlanta will be in a difficult situation that will force it to rely on unproven players, such as Lamar Patterson and Terran Petteway.
