Damian Lillard Drops 1st Live Rap Verse at Portland Hip-Hop Show

Dan CarsonAug 27, 2015

Damian Lillard—excuse me, "Dame DOLLA"—took his rap forays to the next level Wednesday night with a live performance at the Holocene nightclub in Portland.

The Portland Trail Blazers guard has been making music steadily this summer, dropping tracks on SoundCloud when he's not too busy earning his college degree and making all the money in the world through contract extensions and sponsorship deals with Adidas.

WeOutHere.net's Dizz (h/t Willamette Week's Matthew Singer) posted video of Lillard's performance. It wasn't a full show, but he stepped up and dropped a verse, rapping over Brookfield Duece's "I Wish I Could Tell You."

It's not bad, really.

Considering all the crimes NBA players have committed against hip-hop over the years, Lillard has a solid flow. He's not setting fire to the mic and leaving it melted and gooey on the stage. But he does solid work.

Here's the SoundCloud version of Lillard's song with Brookfield:

So Lillard's not a terrible NBA rapper, meaning eventually he and Iman Shumpert will have to battle for the title as the league's top MC.

Weird face paint will be optional.

Dan is on Twitter. Portland hip-hop on the way up!
