Bronny James impressed in the G-League, and now he is returning to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Ayomide Adeduyite of Athlon Sports noted the Lakers recalled James and Cameron Carr ahead of their four-game road trip that starts Sunday against the Detroit Pistons and features games against the Atlanta Hawks, Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns.
Los Angeles previously sent them to the Coachella Valley Lakers, and James thrived during the G-League's team against the Salt Lake City Stars with 22 points, seven assists and five rebounds in a 104-98 win.
He also said, "It's good to be in a new environment."
James, who is the son of the legendary LeBron James, was buried in the Lakers' rotation in the early portion of the season. While it was just a brief appearance at the G-League, it was also an opportunity for the 22-year-old to get some playing time instead of just sitting on the end of the team's bench.
"The messaging was very simple," Lakers head coach JJ Redick said, per Benjamin Royer of the Orange County Register. "It's just: you guys need reps and you guys need to play."
James is averaging just 2.4 minutes per game in his five appearances for the Lakers this season.
Los Angeles also hasn't needed him much, as it is off to an excellent 8-2 start with Luka Dončić leading the way as an early MVP candidate. Dončić is averaging a stunning 40.1 points per game on the campaign and dropped 53 in Friday's win over the Portland Trail Blazers.
It was his fourth straight game with at least 40 points and second game of the season with more than 50.
There is no doubt the Lakers are Dončić's team at this point, but James will look to carve out a role in the rotation following his appearance in the G-League.
