The Los Angeles Lakers announced Thursday that guards Bronny James and Cameron Carr have been assigned to the team's G League affiliate, the Coachella Valley Lakers.

Coachella Valley will open its season on Friday in Palm Desert.

James, 22, has appeared in 74 career games across three seasons with the Lakersโ€”including five this seasonโ€”averaging 2.5 points and one assist in 7.7 minutes per game.

Carr, 21, was the No. 24 overall pick in the 2026 NBA draft and hasn't seen the court much, appearing in just three games while registering no stats.

Neither player was ever likely to see many minutes at the NBA level this season, barring injuries. The Lakers are pretty stacked at guard, with Luka Donฤiฤ‡ and Austin Reaves operating as the starters, Collin Sexton and Quentin Grimes the main reserves getting minutes behind them and Jaden Hardy also available as a depth option.

The Lakers have also primarily utilized players like Matisse Thybulle and Ziaire Williams at the 3. With a pretty defined rotation early in the season, finding minutes outside of garbage time for James or Carr hasn't been terribly feasible, or necessary.
