Domantas Sabonis Trade Needs to Be Prioritized by Kings Amid Latest NBA Rumors

Erik BeastonNov 5, 2026

Amid a 1-7 start to the 2026-27 season, and at the bottom of a loaded Western Conference, the Sacramento Kings are seeking a trade partner for All-Star center/forward Domantas Sabonis, per Jake Fischer on B/R's NBA Insider Notebook.

ESPN's Tim MacMahon said on The Hoop Collective podcast added that Sabonis wants out of Sacramento and is not happy with the Kings.

Fischer noted that the Kings see Sabonis' contract ($45.5 million this season, per Spotrac) as a high-value contract, but that sentiment is not necessarily shared around the league.

Given Sabonis' apparent discontent and the Kings' rapid descent toward the bottom of the Western Conference standings, things need to change.

The Kings must explore a trade and get something done sooner rather than later, before whatever perceived schism between the organization and player becomes a distraction and hampers what has already been a disappointing start to the season.

That means Sacramento's front office may have to come to grips with the idea that they may not get in return for Sabonis what they previously expected. The 30-year-old has averaged 15.1 points, 14.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and is shooting 68.1 percent from the floor.

He is a strong, physical presence on the court, is an excellent screener, and can facilitate scoring.

There will be a market for a player of his ability, just at the right place.

The sooner the Kings rectify the issue, the sooner teyn can move on to build around Acuff without any drama, frustration, or chemistry issues, and continue its path back to perennial playoff appearances.
