Wemby Compared to Wilt Chamberlain, 'Superman' by Dylan Harper After Historic 50-20 Stat Line
Wednesday's high-profile showdown between Victor Wembanyama and Cooper Flagg turned into a historic showcase for the San Antonio Spurs superstar in a 112-111 win over the Dallas Mavericks.
Wembanyama set career-highs with 52 points and 24 rebounds, while adding eight blocks on defense.
The performance led Spurs teammate Dylan Harper to compare Wembanyama to NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain.

"He's basically Wilt," Harper told reporters. "The other team tries to do everything [to stop Wembanyama]. They throw out any adjustment, every adjustment. It's hard to keep big fella out of the paint. He's so dominant when he screens and rolls. He knows how to get to his spots. He's great at the free throw line. So, for us, it's just how do we get him the ball and how do we get the low man away from him?"
Harper also compared Wembanyama to Superman for his healing powers after the two-time All-Star went down early in the fourth quarter after rolling his ankle, but returned three minutes later to help close out the win.
"He's Superman," Harper said. "He rolls his ankle and pops right up and acts like nothing happened. I've never seen [something] like that, but that's a testament to how he takes care of his body."
The comparison between Wembanyama and Chamberlain is certainly apt. They're the only two players in NBA history to record at least 50 points, 20 rebounds and eight blocks in a game.
Superman is a harder correlation to make because he is famously weakened by kryptonite. No one in the NBA has yet to find anything that can faze Wembanyama.
There's also more bad news for the rest of the NBA because the Spurs have now won six straight games after an 0-2 start. Wembanyama is averaging a career-high 29.0 points and 4.5 blocks per game through eight starts.
