Luka Tops Michael Jordan's Early-Season Scoring Mark, Makes NBA History as Lakers Beat Kings
Another day, another game when Luka Dončić scores 40 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a victory.
Dončić continued his torrid scoring pace to start the season with third straight 40-point game and fifth overall in eight games to help the Lakers to a 116-103 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night.
The six-time All-Star now has 308 points this season, surpassing Michael Jordan for the most total points through eight games since the 1988-89 season.

Dončić reached the 40-point threshold by shooting 11-of-23 from the field and 6-of-13 from three, along with nine rebounds and seven assists. He has made at least six threes in six consecutive games.
After a "slow" start to the season in which he only managed 51 points through his first two games, Dončić has gone on one of the all-time great heaters in NBA history over the past two weeks.
Dončić's worst scoring game since Oct. 25. was his 37-point outing against the Golden State Warriors.
Comparing Dončić's start to what Jordan did in 1988-89, the Chicago Bulls legend had two games with 52 points and another with 42. His lowest-scoring game was 28 points in the season opener against the Detroit Pistons.
Jordan finished the 1988-89 season with an NBA-high 32.5 points per game and led the Bulls to the Eastern Conference before losing to the Bad Boy Pistons. He was the runner-up in MVP voting to Magic Johnson.
Dončić currently leads the NBA with 38.5 points per game, which is on pace to be the third-highest mark in league history.
