Despite a slow start to the season, the Golden State Warriors have won five consecutive games for the first time since the 2024-25 season. When asked about what makes this Golden State team different than last year's team, Warriors star guard Stephen Curry offered a simple response.

"Uh, Yax," Curry said.

Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg has had a sensational start to his NBA career. The six-foot-nine forward has averaged seven rebounds and 3.9 assists to go along with his 21.5 points per game.

Despite reaching 30 points only once in his 112 collegiate games, Lendeborg has needed just seven games to surpass the mark twice in Golden State. His 37 points during a 124-112 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers were the most points scored by a Warriors rookie since Curry in 2010.

The Warriors have gotten solid production from several other players as well. Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski, forward Georges Niang, and center Charles Bassey have all stepped up to contribute throughout the early stages of the season.

"We have some individual production that's been pretty cool," Curry added. "And then some standout guys who've made their presence felt night after night. But I think collectively ... we're probably a little more prepared on the details of what we're trying to do and not just take it for granted. You can play like the Warriors of old and expect good things to happen. The idea of what we talked about going into the year: Keep the bones of what we do, how we play, what me and [forward Draymond Green] can do out there, but then the next level of detail to help the younger guys find their way. But we do have some talent that's been fun to watch."

Lendeborg, the No. 11 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, has provided Curry with the second scoring option that he has desperately needed since Jimmy Butler tore his ACL last January. The production around him has allowed Curry to get off to a hot start of his own. The 38-year-old sharpshooter has scored 180 points, surpassing Karl Malone (169) for the most points scored through six games by a player over the age of 37.

Golden State will look to keep their hot start going when they host the Miami Heat on Thursday.
