Giannis Hypes Himself As NBA's Best 2-Way Player Of His Era in Video, 'I Can Prove It'
Miami Heat star Giannis Antetokounmpo explained why he believes that he's the top two-way player of his era.
"In my era, best two-way player," Antetokounmpo said in a video posted by the NBA on YouTube (4:15 mark).
"I can prove it, though," he added. "Best offensive player, MVP. Best defensive player too. Defensive Player of the Year."
While it's difficult to definitely rank the greatest two-way player of Antetokounmpo's era, he certainly has a case for the title.
He's one of just five players in NBA history to earn MVP honors as well as Defensive Player of the Year recognition. Antetokounmpo is also the only active player that has accomplished the feat.
He's been unstoppable around the basket throughout his career, averaging 29.1 points and 5.8 assists per game while shooting 57.2 percent from the field since the start of the 2017-18 season.
Antetokounmpo has also routinely disrupted passing lanes and altered shots at the rim, putting together eight separate seasons in which he recorded at least one steal and one block per game. He has five All-Defensive Team selections under his belt as well.
Antetokounmpo's two-way dominance helped the Milwaukee Bucks capture a championship in 2021, as he was named Finals MVP after averaging 35.2 points, 13.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.8 blocks per game against the Phoenix Suns.
The 31-year-old is now looking to help the Heat contend in the Eastern Conference this season, although they've opened the year with a 1-4 record.
