Giannis Antetokounmpo has been productive to open his Miami Heat career, although the team still sits at 1-4 to open the 2026-27 season.

Antetokounmpo became the first player in NBA history to score at least 125 points and grab at least 50 rebounds across his first five games with a team that also happened to drop four of those five contests.

The two-time MVP is averaging 27.6 points, 11.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game while shooting 56.7 percent from the field this season.

The Heat narrowly missed the playoffs with a 43-39 record during their 2025-26 campaign, but made postseason appearances in each of the prior six years and were looking to contend in the Eastern Conference once again following the blockbuster trade to acquire Antetokounmpo this summer.

Miami received the 10-time All-Star along with Bobby Portis from the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, three first-round draft picks, one pick swap and one second-round pick on June 22.

The Heat are still searching for more consistency from their new starting lineup, which has struggled to space the floor for Antetokounmpo.

Bam Adebayo and Andrew Wiggins are shooting 15.8 percent and 26.1 percent from behind the arc, respectively.

Miami's starting lineup of Antetokounmpo, Adebayo, Wiggins, Davion Mitchell and Klay Thompson owns a disappointing minus-30.1 net rating across 53 minutes this season (via NBA.com).

The Heat still have 77 games remaining to get back on track, but the Antetokounmpo era hasn't started on a high note.
