There is no doubt that the Philadelphia 76ers are loaded with talent. Turns out they're already pretty resilient, too.

The Sixers overcame a 29-point first-half deficit on Thursday, defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers 114-106 while thrilling the Philly fans in the team's home opener.

Here's a look at the game's key performers:

This was truly a tale of two halves.

The Cavaliers were all over the Sixers early, racing out to a 35-18 lead after the first quarter and a 69-45 margin at halftime. They led by as many as 29 points in the second quarter.

But the Sixers roared back in the third, outscoring the Cavs by a 37-21 margin and at one point cut the deficit to just two points. That set the stage for an exciting fourth quarter.

But the Sixers had figured something out and continued to frustrate the Cavaliers with relentless defense, transition scoring and individual brilliance in the halfcourt.

It was a similar theme on Tuesday night, when the Sixers hit a different gear in the second half and beat the defending-champion New York Knicks. It's a promising start for a group that's barely played together, even if there are some issues to work out (slow starts, disjoined halfcourt offense at times, turnovers, etc.).

But beating two genuine Eastern Conference contenders to open the 2026-27 campaign is gonna have an already-buzzing Philadelphia feeling pretty optimistic. For now, any concerns about how the pieces would fit have been allayed.
